Makati police gets tech-savvy in solving crime
Now, beating those crooks before they strike is easier. The Makati City Police has come up with "Criminal Modus Operandi," which is an operation geared towards educating people on the latest modus operandi of crime syndicates. The police produced an instructional video exposing the methods that syndicates employ to obtain their goals. The video, which has 15 segments showcasing crime acts from street theft and credit card hacking to the more serious offenses like car-napping and rape, was uploaded to the video sharing website, Youtube (type "Criminal Modus Operandi" on the search bar). This is a bid to educate more people, especially those who are not so street smart, about the possible perils they may encounter. Not only is the video posted on Youtube but the police also distributed about 5,000 DVD copies, with more people requesting for copies. The video would be regularly updated because syndicates often modify their tactics so they won't get caught. An English version may be available soon so that even foreigners will be able to understand it. The aim is to inform as many people as possible about these felonious acts to decrease their chances of being victimized.
